MASSIMO
My friends and I started at the bottom.
But we did whatever it took to make it to the top.
Now we manage half the city’s underworld.
And I’m the one in charge.
So when my new employee, Isabelle, brings me evidence of a snitch, it’s a problem...
In more than one way.
As soon as I see her, I know she’s mine.
And I’m not going to let some rat hurt what belongs to me.
I’ll do anything—anything—for the people I claim.

Four friends—and their rivals—who triumphed against all odds, no matter the cost. Now they’ve made it. One by one, they’ll become obsessed with possessing her curves.

This is a Steamy Short Story Romance. No Cliffhangers. This is the first in the Possessing Her Curves series, but it can also be read as a standalone. If you love short romances with steamy sex scenes and a happily ever after, then you’ll love this book.

Chapter One Look Inside

“What the hell is this?”
I look up from my computer screen to find my boss, Justin Becker, looming over me. His cheeks are red, and his blond combover that doesn’t fool anyone is out of place, strands falling across his wide forehead. He’s waving a file folder at me, one that I left on his desk while he was at his three-hour lunch this afternoon.
“It’s an audit of that account you asked me to reconcile this morning,” I explain, although of course, all of this is detailed in the folder if he would actually bother to open it. “I noticed—”
“Nothing,” he snaps. “You noticed nothing. It’s not your job to notice things.”
I blink at him, trying to keep my face neutral. This is my first job out of college, and I’d like to keep it, but he hasn’t made these last few months easy. “Then what is my job?” I ask, resting my chin in my hand and trying to look genuinely curious.
“You’re my assistant. You do what I tell you.” He pauses, dumping the folder in the black trash can beside my desk for emphasis. “Do you think you can handle that?”
“Yes, sir,” I say, smiling sweetly and then baring my teeth at his back as he walks away.
“This is the job of your dreams,” I quietly remind myself as I duck down to retrieve my file from the bin. “What you’ve always wanted.” Not working for a douche like Justin Becker, but working at Maximum Inc. Now that I have my foot in the door, if I can just hang on for a few years, prove myself to the higher-ups, maybe I’ll be able to climb the corporate ladder and get out from beneath Becker’s thumb.
When I pick up the file, a crumpled ribbon of paper falls to the floor at my feet. I bend to pick it up, too, flattening it out on my desk. It’s a receipt for a six-hundred-dollar tab at The Rook & Pawn. It’s a nice restaurant on the other side of town, but one I would never go to, and not one where I would expect to see Becker or any of Maximum Inc.’s people. Not only is it where my brother died ten years ago when he was waiting tables and got caught in the crossfire of some deal gone wrong, but it’s also owned by Four Knights.
The question is, what is Justin Becker, the head of accounting at Maximum Inc, doing at a restaurant owned by his company’s biggest rival?
There’s a shout from Becker’s office, and I find myself quickly hiding the receipt in the pocket of my blazer. Maybe it doesn’t mean anything, but it could just as easily be proof that Becker is doing something shady. Even though I’ve never met the man in person, I feel a certain loyalty to our CEO, Massimo Russo.
Just before his death, my brother, Isaac, who was ten years older than me, had accepted a job at Maximum Inc. as an operations manager. It was a big deal for him—he had always looked up to Mr. Russo, admiring the way the man had worked his way to the top despite seemingly impossible odds. When Isaac died, even though he had no other connection to us, it was Mr. Russo who paid the hospital bills and the funeral costs, even depositing thirty-thousand dollars into my mom’s bank account to help us get by without Isaac’s income. It was that money that allowed me to go to school to get my accounting degree.
So, it’s fair to say I owe a lot to Massimo Russo.
