I have everything…
Except a woman.
That’s because only one girl ever had my heart.
But we were just kids.
When I run into Maggie again, it feels like my last chance.
She’s curvy, stubborn, and knows what she wants.
Can I convince her that our past doesn’t have to determine our future?
C.L. Cruz & Liz Fox have teamed up to bring you a new series!
Four brothers—and their rivals—who triumphed against all odds, no matter the cost. Now they’ve made it. One by one, they’ll become obsessed with possessing her curves.
This is a Steamy Short Story Romance. No Cliffhangers. This is the seventh in the Possessing Her Curves series, but it can also be read as a standalone. If you love short romances with steamy sex scenes and a happily ever after, then you’ll love this book.
Chapter One Look Inside
Chapter One Look Inside
I pull open the door to Hot Shots, the cafe and sandwich shop around the corner from the garage where I work, and get in line behind a guy in a business suit. He glances back at me, and I give him my best what-are-you-looking-at scowl, perfected after years of living in the hardest parts of Heathcliff. He flinches and takes a step away like I might punch him, or even worse, rub my greasy hands on the back of his department-store suit jacket.
“Maggie, hey!” Claire calls from behind the counter. She and I became unlikely friends since my job down the street keeps me coming here pretty regularly. She’s a little younger and a lot more sheltered than me, but she has a kind heart, and it’s nice to have someone to talk to now and then.
I wave at her and then wipe my hands on my coveralls self-consciously. I love what I do, but even I have to admit that the constant grime under my fingernails isn’t the best look.
When it’s my turn to order, she nudges the other barista out of the way and beckons me forward. “The usual?” she asks.
At my confirming nod, she rings me up, keying in the employee discount that I never ask for but gave up protesting a long time ago. I hate accepting handouts, but she won’t take no for an answer.
“You were gone when I got up this morning,” she points out as I hand her the cash to pay for my meal.
I shrug. “We have a lot going on down at the shop. I had to get in early.”
Rolling her eyes playfully, she says, “You do all the work around there. How you don’t own it already is beyond me.” She hands me my change. “You can tell Gary I said so.”
Smiling, I shake my head. Gary owns the Quick Fix Garage where I’ve been working for the past couple of months, and to be honest, I’m just glad to have a steady job. When you’ve spent most of your life working your ass off and just trying to get by, like I have, you learn to really appreciate what you have when you have it.
“So, Julian and Connie will be home soon,” Claire says as we wait for my order to be ready. Connie is Claire’s half-sister, and Julian is her hotshot attorney sweetheart. Claire lives with them in a beautiful brownstone in Hamilton Hills and was nice enough to let me crash there while they were touring Europe for the summer.
“Already? I didn’t think they were due back for another couple of weeks.”
Claire shrugs. “They need him back at the office,” she explains. “One of their ex-employees is causing trouble or something.”
“Oh,” I say with a nod. “Okay. Well, I get paid today, so I’ll get out of your hair tonight.”
“No, no,” Claire insists. “That’s not what I’m saying. I just wanted to give you the heads up.”
But I know that I need to get out of there. It was always meant to be temporary, a place to get back on my feet when my roommate kicked me out with no notice. I’d just spent all my money fixing my bike when it happened and didn’t have any money to spare for a deposit on a new place.
“It’s okay,” I tell her. “I mean it. Honestly, thanks for letting me crash there as long as you did.”
She frowns. “Are you sure?”
“Positive.” I’ve free-loaded off of Claire longer than I meant to, anyway.
