I keep to myself.
It’s one of the reason I like being in the MC;
Nobody minds my business but me.
When the Prez tells me to play tour guide to a student, I balk.
Until she walks in the door.
Cora is curvy, sassy, and makes me want to steam up her glasses.
By the end of her assignment, she’ll know who she belongs to.
The men of the Raging Angels MC are possessive, protective, and know what they like—curvy women. One by one, they’ll learn what it’s like to fall into obsession—and love—with their women.
This is a Steamy Short Story Romance. No Cliffhangers. This is the fifth in the Raging Angels MC series, but it can also be read as a standalone. If you love short romances with steamy sex scenes and a happily ever after, then you’ll love this book.
Chapter One Look Inside
Chapter One Look Inside
Professor Deidre Meter eyes me over the rims of her glasses as she sets my thesis proposal down on the desk in front of her.
“It’s good, but you knew that,” she says in that stern way she has of speaking, even when she’s complimenting someone. “The concept of an outlaw motorcycle club as an alternative family unit… It’s interesting. It’s controversial.”
“But?” I prompt. I’ve been studying under Professor Meter for years now, through undergraduate and then graduate studies, and now, as I work toward my doctorate in sociology. I know when she has something else to say.
“But you’re a scholar, Cora. My prize student. I worry about you out there, with men like that. The… influence they might have on a girl like you.”
Her concern is touching, but also unnecessary. I may be innocent in some ways, but I’m smart, and I have a strong moral compass that’s kept me on the right path so far, despite my rough start in life. Also, I’m a chubby, glasses-wearing nerd. The chances of any of these guys becoming infatuated with me are slim to none.
And I tell her that, unable to keep the amusement from my voice. “You shouldn’t worry about me. I’m not exactly old lady material.”
Then again, I never would have pegged my hairdresser, Willow, as an old lady either, but she’s been dating the Raging Angels’ president, Ranger, for a while now. It’s because of her that I have this opportunity; the club doesn’t normally allow outsiders to come in like this, but she was able to pull some strings. Speaking of which, I check my watch and pick up my backpack.
“As long as my proposal is approved, I’ve got to run,” I say even as Professor Meter continues to eye me dubiously. “My contact is expecting me.”
With a sigh, she stands and crosses the room to open her office door for me. This time of afternoon, Abernathy Hall is bustling with students and teachers. I make a move to join the wave of people heading down the stairs when the professor calls after me.
“Cora?”
“Yeah?” I hike my backpack up on my shoulder and step against the wall, out of the way.
“I want you to check in tomorrow night. Send me your notes. I’ll be interested to see how it’s going.”
I nod my agreement and dash down the stairs, pushing my way outside.
Heathcliff University is the largest in the state, and it takes me about thirty minutes to get across campus to my car, parked in a public garage. I plug the address Willow gave me into my GPS and pull out, surprised when it starts to take me outside of the city. I follow a two-lane highway for about fifteen minutes until I spot the rusty sign for Hughes Auto that Willow mentioned.
There’s a gate, but it’s open, and I pull inside, parking my sensible Acura between two bikes that gleam in the late-day sun. I admire them as I get out; I am so far out of my element, but it’s exciting. This is why I study sociology—to better understand people so as to better help them in the future.
“Cora, you made it!” Willow stands in the door of the clubhouse.
I climb the stairs to the porch and give her a quick hug. “I wouldn’t miss it.”
She gestures for me to follow her inside, and I pause inside the door, looking around the room. There’s a bar on one wall and a swinging door that I assume leads to a kitchen. On the other side of the room are several couches, a television, a scuffed dining table, and a pool table. People are everywhere—men in leather cuts, women in leather skirts, and there’s even a kid doing what looks like his homework.
“This is my son, Max,” Willow says, ruffling the boy’s hair. The big, bearded guy beside Max stands. “And this is Ranger, the club president.”
