Connie
My job is perfect.
It’s anonymous, boring, and safe—just the way I like it.
So when I catch the attention of notorious ladies’ man, Julian Garcia…
Everything changes.
He’s not just a playboy, he’s my boss.
And he’s set his sights on me.
He’s arrogant, ruthless, and criminally sexy.
But can I believe him when he says he only wants me?

C.L. Cruz & Liz Fox have teamed up to bring you a new series!

Four friends—and their rivals—who triumphed against all odds, no matter the cost. Now they’ve made it. One by one, they’ll become obsessed with possessing her curves.

This is a Steamy Short Story Romance. No Cliffhangers. This is the third in the Possessing Her Curves series, but it can also be read as a standalone. If you love short romances with steamy sex scenes and a happily ever after, then you’ll love this book.

Chapter One Look Inside

The copy machine whirs as it churns out copies of the contracts I spent the last few days transcribing and putting together. I stand over it, tapping the toe of my nude pump on the floor, hoping to somehow render myself invisible.
It doesn’t work.
“Connie!” Becky sing-songs as she spots me, swooping into the copy room.
I look up, pretending like I hadn’t known she was coming even though she’s the type of woman you can hear a mile away. “Oh, hi, Becky.”
She pushes aside a box of paper and hops up on the countertop, crossing one thin, tanned leg over the other and grinning at me. “I’ve been looking for you.”
And I’ve been avoiding her. Not because I don’t like her or because I’m a horrible person, but because I’m trying to keep a low profile, and nothing about Becky screams discreet. My constant rejections haven’t stopped her from trying to get me to go out with her and some of the other legal assistants from the office on a regular basis, though.
“Oh yeah? What’s up?” I ask even though I know what’s coming.
“The girls and I are headed to Maze tonight,” she says. “They’re doing dollar shots for anyone who can make it through. I hoped you might come this time. Drink a little. Meet some hotties.”
“Oh, I don’t think so,” I say, doing my best to sound regretful. “I already have plans.” Yeah, a hot date with my comfy sweatpants, a romance novel, and a box of wine I picked up at the grocery store last night.
Becky pouts. “Aw, I hate that.”
“Me, too,” I say, and a part of me means it. Sometimes it can get a little lonely, especially when Becky insists on rehashing every detail of her excursions with me the next day, but that’s the price I pay to stay safe and away from my stepdad and my ex-boyfriend.
Someone taps on the door to the copy room, making us both turn. One of Maximum Inc.’s associate attorneys, Jean Graham, peeks in at us. Despite technically being our boss, she’s typically pretty chill as long as we get our work done, which I always do.
“Conference room, five minutes.” She pauses, narrowing her eyes at Becky still perched on the countertop. “And Mr. Garcia will be here. Be on your best behavior.”
We both laugh. “Count on it, Jean!” Becky calls after her. Leaning forward, she lowers her voice conspiratorially. “I guess you can always meet cute guys in the office, especially with Mr. Garcia hanging around more lately.”
I scoff, rolling my eyes as I collect my papers from the copier tray. Calling Julian Garcia, attorney to one of Heathcliff’s largest business empires and renowned ladies’ man, a “cute guy” was like calling Pride and Prejudice a decent love story. Not to mention, the thought of him giving me even a second glance is inconceivable. I am not the kind of woman that men look at twice.
Unless you’re my asshole ex, and then you won’t leave me alone.
“What?” Becky hops down from the counter to give me room as I sort my copies. “He’s technically still single.”
